Great Uncle Jay

My Dad has a little Brother who has always been a favorite with the kids. I remember going to My Grandma's house as a kid and hanging out with Jay in his room. He had the best games, the best books, and lots of cartoons, and he always made sure I was "His Girl". Jay has been a great blessing in my life. He has an instant love for others and a simple joy in life. I have always felt , as my Grandma, Grandpa, Parents, Aunts & Uncles made so clear in their own actions & affection for Jay, that He is an amazing spirit, who has increased the love, and compassion of our family. Jay has Down Syndrome. I didn't know what this meant when I was a kid all I knew was that Jay was fun to be with. As I got older, Jay, helped me to see that some of the greatest blessings of our lives show up in ways that may be seen has the biggest challenges. I Thank my Uncle Jay so much for teaching me this. When I had Megan and she was born with many physical difficulties I knew that this was a blessing for Megan and for our family. I don't think I would have felt that way if it were not for my Uncle Jay, his life gave me a great perspective on the blessing our challenges are at a time when I needed it most. In the past few years I have seen some dear friends struggle with children who have great needs. It is hard. I admire them so much. I see them learning the same lessons that my family has learned from Jay. One way God's love is shown is through his children. I believe Jay's purpose in my life has been to show me PURE LOVE. In december, Lydia fell in love with Jay. They played ball together. He would lift her up on his lap with a happy "up-is-daisy", there were many hugs. Always happy and patient with her. I hope everyone has their own "Jay" I am so grateful for mine.
I love you Jay!!!

Oh Jen, isn't it a blessing to have the purest of souls in your life...we had Em over this weekend who too is Downs and today he got up and bore his testimony and did a fantastic job. My kids couldn't stop laughing after he started out with, "what's up" as he scanned the crowd and then it went to nothing but pure testimony. Thanks for the reminder of this beauty of their spirits.
